Horn Appreciates Quick response

I would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank the police department for its quick response to the alarm that was set off on a recent Tuesday morning at Westview Elementary and for the quick apprehension of the man who vandalized a beautiful school, forcing it to be closed for the day. This despicable action caused the loss of a day of education for our children as well as frustration and a sense of violation for the teachers and administration.

The ripple effect of his destruction certainly caused much angst for our working parents in the community. Although it took him a relatively short time to do so much destruction, we are fortunate he was apprehended quickly or it could have been catastrophic.

Also, thank you to all of the folks from the different service teams at the Hamilton County Department of Education. The men and women as well as the teachers worked tirelessly into the night to put the school back into operation so that the children could return Wednesday morning. Please take the opportunity to show these folks your gratitude.

Cook's Theology Not In Tune With God

In response to David Cook's recent column, "Domestic Partner Theology," I would suggest we look to God's holy word. When there were only two people on planet Earth, one man and one woman, God said, "Therefore shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall cleave unto his wife, and they shall be one flesh" (Genesis 2:24), thus instituting the proper sexual relationship God designed for all humanity for all time in the marriage relationship. Romans 1:26-32 plainly states homosexual acts are "unseemly," "reprobate" and will be judged by God. Jesus said in Matthew 19:4-6 that marriage sanctioned by God is the union of one male and one female.

Surely we know Jesus "did no sin" (1 Peter 2:22), so he would not have sanctioned a union that transgresses the will of almighty God. May God bless each one of us as we follow his holy word and live our lives according to its unsearchable riches.

God loves all people, but he does not love any sin. That is why he sent Jesus to shed his blood to wash away our sins. Please read, study and obey God's word.

Act Like A Man To Become One

To black males: You want to be treated like a man? Act like one. Go to school and graduate. Eat a good breakfast to be on your toes in school. Do not play hooky.

Do your homework. Go to bed early; don't roam the streets at night. Honor your father and your mother. Do not drink, smoke, lie, cheat, steal or make bad friends. Go to church. Make good friends. Do not be discouraged. Keep a positive outlook on life.

Marry and have children in wedlock. Be a good role model. Get a good job, advance yourself whenever possible. Spend money wisely -- stay in your means.

Buy or rent in a nice area. Go to school to advance yourself on the job.

Do not feel sorry for yourself. You are what you are. Strive and achieve. Then you are a man!
