Whitwell, Tenn., woman arrested on drug, DUI charges

A 41-year-old Whitwell, Tenn., woman was arrested Friday evening after a traffic stop and charged with driving under the influence and several drug offenses, a news release states.

A Sequatchie County Sheriff's Office narcotics officer stopped Shannon Marie Henry's vehicle for registration and seat belt violations, according to the release. She gave her consent to a search of the vehicle and its contents, and detectives recovered several Xanex and hydrocodone pills, along with multiple items of drug paraphernalia.

Henry was charged with felony possession of a Schedule III drug (hydrocodone), felony possession of a schedule IV drug (Xanex), and upon being evaluated by the department's drug recognition expert was charged with driving under the influence.

Henry is out on bond and has a scheduled appearance in Sequatchie County General Sessions Court on Sept. 15.

The stop and arrest were made during the department's participation in the "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" campaign.
