Hamilton County Commissioner Fred Skillern presides over final meeting

Long time Hamilton County Commissioner Fred Skillern dropped the gavel for the last time today.

After 33 years of service on either the school board of the commission, Skillern oversaw his last public meeting today. Next week, Commissioner-elect Randy Fairbanks will fill the District 1 seat.

Before the commission broke into committees, Skillern said he has enjoyed his three decades of service

"The best part about this service has been the people I've met and the people I've got to know," Skillern said.

Commissioner Larry Henry also sat for his last meeting after 12 years on the commission. Henry will become the Circuit Court Clerk next week.
