Obama nominates Lodge, Walter for TVA board

President Barack Obama has nominated a Memphis television manager and a former commissioner for the Tennessee Department of Human Services to the board of the Tennessee Valley Authority.

The White House announced today that it is recommending for the 9-member board Virginia Lodge and Ron Walter, both Tennessee Democrats, as TVA directors.

Lodge served as commissioner of the Tennessee Department of Human Services from 2003 to 2011, and is now chief executive for FSI Inc. in Nashville.

Walter is president and general manager of Memphis television station WREG.

Their nominations must be confirmed by the U.S. Senate.
