A K-9 accelerant dog traveled from Alabama to Georgia with his handler, Deputy State Fire Marshal Ray Cumby, to investigate a suspicious fire that took the lives of a mother and child in Columbus, Ga., according to a news release from the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office.
Rosella Mitchell, 35, and her 6-month-old infant child died. Cumby and his dog, Andy, who typically investigate fires across the state of Alabama, traveled to investigate this residential fire on Tuesday.
The team was requested in Georgia after the autopsy revealed that Mitchell had multiple stab wounds that caused her death, according to the release.
Brandon Conner 35, of Columbus, has been charged with 2 counts of murder and additional charges may be entered, the release stated.
