According to an online by the Atlanta Journal Constitution, former Ooltewah standout and UT player Jacques Smith has been waived by the Atlanta Falcons as one of their final cuts before the NFL season begins next week.

Smith, who played as a linebacker with the Falcons in the preseason, could be added to Atlanta's practice squad if he clears waivers.

Smith was an undrafted free agent trying to make the Falcons' final 53-man roster, and he drew notice for his rugged attitude during preseason workout. He also was the focus of some of the coaches ire after getting kicked out of the third preseason game for fighting.

Another former Ooltewah star, Sammy Seamster, was also reportedly cut Saturday by the Baltimore Ravens. Seamster played college football at Middle Tennessee State.
