ALABAMA - The Crimson Tide landed Marlon Humphrey, the nation's No. 1 cornerback according to Rivals.com, last Wednesday but could not prevent defensive tackle Matt Elam from choosing home-state Kentucky on Thursday. Alabama's top remaining target is linebacker Rashaan Evans (6-3, 218) from Auburn High School, who is expected to pick between the Crimson Tide and the hometown Tigers.

TENNESSEE - All-purpose running back Derrell Scott from North Carolina selected the Volunteers early last week over South Carolina, but touted athlete prospect Adoree' Jackson (5-10, 172) of California announced a final four that did not include Tennessee. J.C. Shurburtt, the national recruiting director for 247Sports.com, believes Tennessee could lose defensive tackle commitment Cory Thomas to Mississippi State or Clemson.

TEXAS A&M - Guard Braden Smith (6-6, 275), a top-50 Rivals.com prospect from Olathe, Kan., is the top remaining target for the Aggies. Smith visited Auburn and Texas A&M last month and was scheduled this weekend to be at TCU, where his sister competes in track. TCU is thought to be his slight favorite, followed by the Aggies and Auburn.

LSU - The Tigers have lost several elite in-state prospects this winter and do not want that to continue with River Ridge receiver Malachi Dupre (6-4, 175), especially on the heels of losing Odell Beckham and Jarvis Landry early to the NFL. Dupre is thought to be an LSU-UCLA battle, though Alabama, Florida State and Ole Miss have been in the picture. LSU also is battling Miami for defensive tackle Travonte Valentine (6-3, 286) of Hialeah, Fla., who has committed so far to Louisville, Florida and Miami.

AUBURN - Rashaan Evans, the five-star Auburn High linebacker who has yet to commit, is the son of former Tigers tailback Alan Evans. The older Evans was as touted in some recruiting circles as classmate Bo Jackson but rushed just 24 times for 41 yards in two seasons before transferring to UT-Chattanooga. Auburn is the favorite for Evans and also could be for Andrew Williams (6-4, 245), the nation's No. 12 weakside defensive end from McDonough, Ga.

FLORIDA - No SEC school could have a bigger close than the Gators, who are in the mix for Adoree' Jackson and Damian Prince (6-5, 292), Rivals' No. 2 tackle prospect out of Forestville, Md. Florida is vying with Southern Cal, UCLA and LSU for the services of Jackson, who is Rivals' No. 1 athlete prospect, and the Gators are competing with Maryland for Prince. One of Prince's best friends is cornerback Jalen Tabor of Washington, D.C., who has enrolled at Florida.

GEORGIA - This final weekend before signing day was scheduled to be a big one for Georgia, with visits from defensive end Lorenzo Carter (6-5, 235) of Norcross, Ga., offensive tackle Derrick Kelly (6-5, 290) of Havana, Fla., and outside linebacker Bryson Allen-Williams (6-1, 230) of Ellenwood, Ga. The Bulldogs are battling Florida State, Florida and LSU for Carter and are battling LSU for Kelly. Allen-Williams has been committed to South Carolina but visited Alabama last week.

KENTUCKY - Defensive tackle Matt Elam's commitment Thursday to the Wildcats over Alabama gave Kentucky its most high-profile moment during this stellar recruiting cycle. Elam is a five-star prospect according to 247Sports.com, and he is only Kentucky's third commitment from within the state, joining quarterback Drew Barker and defensive tackle Adrian Middleton. The Wildcats have 11 commitments from Ohio.

OLE MISS - The Rebels are considered long shots for receiver Malachi Dupre and are vying with Florida and Virginia Tech for the services of Isaiah McKenzie (5-8, 165), from Plantation, Fla., who is rated the nation's No. 35 receiver by Rivals. The Rebels are also be battling Tennessee for Nashville Ensworth four-star defensive tackle Michael Sawyers (6-2, 307), who once was committed to Vanderbilt and may now be leaning to the Volunteers.

SOUTH CAROLINA - One of the more heralded prospects for the Gamecocks is already in school, with defensive tackle Abu Lamin (6-5, 315) of Fort Scott (Kan.) Community College expected to contribute at a position of need. The Gamecocks have eight commitments from South Carolina and four from Georgia, and they have five of the Palmetto State's top 11 Rivals prospects compared to just one for state rival Clemson.

ARKANSAS - Defensive end Solomon Thomas (6-3, 263) of Coppell, Texas, continues to be the top target for Arkansas, though Stanford remains his favorite. The Razorbacks did get a commitment this past week from defensive end Anthony Brown of Miami, who chose the Hogs over Mississippi State. Arkansas was scheduled to get a visit this week from defensive end Breeland Speaks of Jackson, Miss., who committed last week to Ole Miss.

MISSOURI - Poona Ford (6-1, 288) could wind up venturing a long way from his Hilton Head, S.C., hometown. Ford, the nation's No. 24 defensive tackle according to Rivals, visited Texas and Purdue last month and was scheduled to be at Missouri this weekend. The Tigers have eight commitments from Missouri, five from Florida and three each from Tennessee and Texas.

MISSISSIPPI STATE - The Bulldogs this weekend were scheduled to host Marcus Griffin (6-3, 285), the nation's No. 22 defensive tackle according to Rivals who was to make the long trip from Bellevue, Wash. Griffin has a final four of Arizona, California, Mississippi State and Washington State. The Bulldogs also are vying with Arizona State for J.T. Gray (5-11, 192), the No. 29 athlete prospect from Clarksdale, Miss.

VANDERBILT - Bad news continued this past week for the Commodores, who had cornerback Kyle Gibson of Armwood, Fla., and offensive tackle Jesse Burkett of Bartram Trail, Fla., swiped from their commitment list. Each left for a program that played in a BCS bowl this past season, with Gibson opting for Central Florida and Burkett switching to Stanford. Vanderbilt did add a commitment, tackle Bailey Granier of Galliano, La., who previously committed under James Franklin.
