The Atlanta Braves have agreed to a two-year deal with outfielder Jason Heyward, avoiding arbitration with the 24-year-old outfielder.

Heyward hit .254 with 14 homers and 38 RBIs for the NL East champion Braves in 2013 and hit .333 in his final 31 games as the Braves sprinted into the postseason. Financial terms of the deal were not released.

"Jason is an important part of our organization and we're glad that we were able to agree on a multi-year contract," Braves Executive Vice President and General Manager Frank Wren was quoted as saying in a release from the team.

Heyward won a Gold Glove in 2012 and has played in 532 games in his four-year career.

Atlanta now has two players - closer Craig Kimbrel and first baseman Freddie Freeman - on its 40-man roster who are still in the arbitration process.
