MONTGOMERY, Ala. - A man has been sentenced to 200 years in prison in the severe beating of a Montgomery woman during a September home invasion.

Wilanu Collins was sentenced today on three counts of robbery, a count of burglary and a count of attempted murder in an attack that left the then 72-year-old wife of former state Rep. Claud Walker with a fractured skull. Authorities have said a housekeeper was also injured.

The man's accomplice, 32-year-old Elton Wallace, has also pleaded guilty to robbery and burglary.

The Montgomery Advertiser reports five people testified on behalf of 36-year-old Collins - including his parents. Collins told the court that he wasn't the one who carried out the attack.
