The State Route 153 ramp at Access Road//Lake Resort Drive reopened to traffic at 3 p.m. today, according to a news release from the Tennessee Department of Transportation.

The ramp had been partially closed since Jan. 6 because of pavement failure and totally closed since Jan. 27 after an emergency repair contract for $455,346.25 was awarded to Highways Inc., TDOT spokeswoman Jennifer Flynn said in the release.

During the ramp closure, the contractor excavated and rebuilt the entire slope and roadway and addressed drainage issues. Once the work was completed, the repaired area got new paving, pavement markings and guardrail.

When the weather warms up, the entire ramp is set to be repaved, Flynn said.
