ATHENS, Ga. - Police are investigating after a University of Georgia student was found dead at an apartment complex in downtown Athens.

Athens-Clarke County Coroner Sonny Wilson say there was no obvious evidence of foul play.

Athens-Clarke County police Maj. Mark Sizemore said police received a call early Thursday evening of a dead male at the 909 Broad Street Apartments, and detectives and forensics personnel were sent to the scene to investigate.

Sizemore tells The Athens Banner-Herald that investigators are awaiting results from an autopsy at the Georgia Bureau of Investigation's State Crime Lab in Decatur.

Authorities said the student's name wasn't released because some relatives may not yet be aware of the death.
