U.S. Sen. Bob Corker will hold a press conference Tuesday on the upcoming union vote at the Chattanooga Volkswagen plant.

Corker released a statement today following comments by the United Auto Workers over the weekend that his office said "misused" the former Chattanooga mayor's position on not weighing in prior to the upcoming vote out of respect to VW employees.

The statement also cited concerns by the Tennessee Republican about the way the UAW may be misusing that position inside the plant.

"I am very disappointed the UAW is misusing my comments to try to stifle others from weighing in on an issue that is so important to our community," said Corker. "While I had not planned to make additional public remarks in advance of this week's vote, after comments the UAW made this weekend, I feel strongly that it is important to return home and ensure my position is clear."
