The Chattanooga Police Department issued a news release today that Detective Michael Early, a robbery detective with the department, was arrested and charged with simple assault (domestic) in Murfreesboro, Tenn., last weekend.

The release said Early has been placed on administrative paid leave pending the outcome of an internal affairs investigation.
