Storm Warning

about Clay Bennett...

The son of a career army officer, Bennett led a nomadic life, attending ten different schools before graduating in 1980 from the University of North Alabama with degrees in Art and History. After brief stints as a staff artist at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and the Fayetteville (NC) Times, he went on to serve as the editorial cartoonist for the St. Petersburg Times (1981-1994) and The Christian Science Monitor (1997-2007), before joining the staff of the ...

NOBODY LIKES A WHINER

You know, PT, if you are so offended by Clay's cartoons, if they are so beneath your sense of lofty style and substance, why bother?

Its seems that you and your fellow goobers spend half your lives on this site belly aching about an editorial cartoon running in a regional Tennessee newspaper. Obviously you clowns are honest reflections of the republican party, and your sole reason for living has descended into griping and carping and moaning and complaining. You add nothing, and half the time you sound hysterical.

I usually just skip over the crap from you and your fellow commandos, but you posted first at 12:04 a.m. I suspect you were poised at midnight and it only took you 4 minutes of brain straining, vein popping effort to formulate that one word response.

Nobody likes a whiner.

Why are you responding at 12:42 a.m, blackwater? Shouldn't you be sleeping? I'm actually finishing up working.

Liberals are the whiners. You've had your run of the country since '08, your man got his agenda in there, and you still act as if you're not in charge. What do you want? You own the media and hollywood. Be happy.

Why are you responding at 12:42 a.m, blackwater? Shouldn't you be sleeping? I'm actually finishing up working.

What is your point?

Liberals are the whiners.

Very original.

You've had your run of the country since '08, your man got his agenda in there, and you still act as if you're not in charge.

Sorry, I have no idea what you're talking about. The President is not 'my man,' and why do think I should act like I'm in charge. In charge of what?

What do you want? You own the media and hollywood. Be happy.

I'd be happy if someone on the right could write something original, not another endless stream of name calling, innuendos, lies, and regurgitated Fox 'news' talking points.

What do YOU WANT? I'd like to have you explain what the republican party stands for. If you don't like the President's agenda what would you do differently and why?

Take immigration. First republicans said they wanted to pass an immigration reform bill but they couldn't because they didn't think Obama would enforce the laws. Meanwhile, the administration was deporting illegals at a record clip and continues to do so to this day. Okay, Obama said, pass the immigration bill.

We can't, republicans lied. We don't care about enforcement now. We want to break it up into 5 separate bills and pass them individually. Obama said fine, pass 5 separate bills.

We can't, republicans lied. We don't care about breaking up the bill now. Okay, Obama said, the Senate passed an immigration bill and you can bring it to the House floor for a vote.

We can't, republicans lied. We don't care about voting on the senate bill now because we don't trust you to enforce the law.

Write something to explain the republican party stance on immigration or any other policy. You decide.

I, along with the rest of America, would really like to know.

Well, we all knew that Clay Bennett is a "I'm better than you" liberal, but this is the last piece of the puzzle that shows his disconnect with the people of Chattanooga and the TFP's coverage area. Instead of cartoons that show true thought, you choose to take the easy path and make fun of Republicans and conservatives. A few complain, but most just write you off. With your blanket statement of southerners, though, you're likely to hear more complaints than on any other piece. Remember, most of the workforce will likely be at home with nothing better to do than log in and tell you where to shove it.

The First Amendment:

Speech that is Protected

The rights of citizenship do not stop at the ballot box. They include the free speech right to devote one’s resources to whatever cause or candidate one supports. We oppose any restrictions or conditions that would discourage Americans from exercising their constitutional right to enter the political fray or limit their commitment to their ideals. As a result, we support repeal of the remaining sections of McCain-Feingold, support either raising or repealing contribution limits, and oppose passage of the DISCLOSE Act or any similar legislation designed to vitiate the Supreme Court’s recent decisions protecting political speech in Wisconsin Right to Life v. Federal Election Commission and Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission. We insist that there should be no regulation of political speech on the Internet. By the same token, we oppose governmental censorship of speech through the so-called Fairness Doctrine or by government enforcement of speech codes, free speech zones, or other forms of “political correctness” on campus.

Why? .... Because we love you.

I heard the other day that old Pete is now taking the eternal dirt nap. Not many people are familiar with his early history.

As part of the Stalinist singing group, the Almanac Singers, Seeger recorded an album lobbying against U.S. involvement in the war while the Soviet Union and Nazi Germany had a peace treaty. Once Hitler invaded Russia, the band pulled their album from the market and issued a pro-war one.

In the "John Doe" album, Mr. Seeger accused FDR of being a warmongering fascist working for J.P. Morgan. He sang, "I hate war, and so does Eleanor, and we won't be safe till everybody's dead." Another song, to the tune of "Cripple Creek" and the sound of Mr. Seeger's galloping banjo, said, "Franklin D., Franklin D., You ain't a-gonna send us across the sea," and "Wendell Willkie and Franklin D., both agree on killing me."

In 1941, when two months after "John Doe" was released Hitler broke his pact with Stalin and invaded the Soviet Union. As good communists, Mr. Seeger and his Almanac comrades withdrew the album from circulation, and asked those who had bought copies to return them. A little later, the Almanacs released a new album, with Mr. Seeger singing "Dear Mr. President," in which he acknowledges they didn't always agree in the past, but now says he is going to "turn in his banjo for something that makes more noise," i.e., a machine gun. As he says in the film, we had to put aside causes like unionism and civil rights to unite against Hitler.

For years, Mr. Seeger used to sing a song with a Yiddish group called "Hey Zhankoye," which helped spread the fiction that Stalin's USSR freed the Russian Jews by establishing Jewish collective farms in the Crimea. Singing such a song at the same time as Stalin was planning the obliteration of Soviet Jewry was disgraceful.

According to the film, one of Mr. Seeger's greatest accomplishments was his tour with third-party Presidential candidate Henry A. Wallace in 1948. Viewers are told only that Wallace was a peace candidate opposed to the America-created Cold War, and that he was falsely accused of being a communist. Nowhere do we learn that Wallace's campaign was in fact a Communist Party-run affair, and that had he been elected, Wallace announced he was going to appoint men to his Cabinet who we now know were bona fide Soviet agents. Instead, we are asked to assume that every position taken by the old pro-Soviet left wing has been proved correct.

http://www.nysun.com/arts/time-for-pete-seeger-to-repent/56379/

Pete loved to sing the Woody Guthrie Marxist protest song "This Land Is Your Land" which was written and sang as a counter to "God Bless America." However in later years he would alter it by substituting the words “no trespassing” for the original “private property”.

As I went rumbling that dusty highway

I saw a sign that said "private property"

But on the other side it didn't say nothing

This side was made for you and me

What Republicans are saying here: If you form a union, we’ll make you regret it.

You’re welcome to join ... We’re welcome to bust your balls for doing so ... live with it cry baby.

What Republicans usually say: Unions are harmful to companies.

What Republicans are saying here: If there is a union, we will harm the company.

The government withholding taxpayers funds from a private company is hardly harming them and I thought you Fleabaggers were all against corporate welfare.

What Republicans usually say: The government shouldn’t interfere in the affairs of private companies and individuals.

What Republicans are saying here: This company and the individuals it employs should do what we, the government, say.

When you whore yourself out to the state they are going to call the jig you dance.

What Republicans usually say: Taxes are bad, and we want to cut as much as possible so as to encourage economic growth.

What Republicans are saying here: If you don’t do as we say, we’ll refuse tax incentives in order to deliberately stymie economic growth.

See above

You union weenies talk bad until somebody pushes it back in your face and then you turn into the typical whining Fleabagger victims.

A full day later and you conservatives still don’t know what you believe. I got one link to the republican party platform, because, I suppose, the writer had no opinions. Whatever the party tells me to think is good enough.

In the past I’ve tried having a fact-based discussion with conservative friends. Now, one will no longer talk to me, as if it’s MY fault that he has a faith based political philosophy. The pity of an unexamined life…

I know some people are passionate about a single issue, but everyone has an opinion about something. Here are a few questions to get you started but feel free to express yourself.

Should taxpayers subsidize corporations?

Should rape victims be forced to give birth?

Do you believe in creationism?

Do you believe in the death penalty?

Should birth control be illegal?

Should we invade Iran?

Well, that should get you started. Who knows? Some of you may have never seriously thought about such things, but like Socrates said, an unexamined life is not worth living.

Blackwater....not much of a fan of Socrates, his beliefs ran toward our current tired situation where we have a bunch of intellectual philosophers running our government.....i.e. Barry The Welfare Pimp, John Kerry, and Joe Biden....who are life long "philosophers" and "big talkers" but have never really done much such as run a business, create a new product, or especially in the case of Sec. Of State Kerry, fought in and won a war. Socrates psycho babble of " I don't know what I don't know" is a good approach to self awareness but not much use when a payroll has to be met or a child has to be taken care of. No, Socrates strikes me to be a typical liberal irresponsible gadfly. Fun at parties but disappears when it's time to clean up. No, if we are examining leaders of antiquity I prefer military men like the brilliant Jullius Caesar and I quote...."If you prefer peace, be prepared for war.". Now that my idealistic, utopian friend is a real leader with substance. Socrates and Plato on the other hand....all words and no empire! You "feel good" about them but "feeling good" does not pay the bills. Bottom line....get real and get a damn job Peter Pan!

Why am I not surprised that Maximus prefers Caesar over Socrates. If he likes Caesar he must have loved Bush. Warmongers both, who "paid the bills" with blood. I USED SMALL WORDS

I asked conservatives what they believe. Max said he believes Caesar is better than Socrates. That's your idea of a 'slam?' Seriously? And why would you try to attack me for asking your opinion? I don't see how expressing your opinion is a dangerous thing that must be rebuffed.

I only own two books from ancient times: Caesar's 'The Conquest of Gaul,' and Plato's 'Phaedrus & Letters VII and VII.'

Caesar's book reminds me of the Churchill quote, "I will be remembered well in history, for I shall write it."

I prefer Plato's message: we all know the difference between right and wrong.

If my other questions were too complicated, try these on for size:

Should there should be universal background checks on gun sales?

Should the minimum wage be raised to $10.10 per hour?

I'm rooting for you Max but I have to be honest, you're in a tight race for Mayor of Gooberville.

Wrong blackwater, that's what liberals do. Liberals are also experts at projection. Liberals interject emotion and answer a question with another question. Your 9:37 post is pure projection, liberals are the ones who change the subject. Ever seen Liberals on talk shows, or watch a rare BO news conference. Laughable.

February 13, 2014 at 10:58 a.m.

A conservative will say that we should be able to keep more of the money we earn. A liberal will counter with, "well, don't you care about the poor?" That's how it goes. That's the perfect example.

The Greeks, with all their gods....small g...and such were big on victimization, in other words, man is a ball of emotions that in his simple minded way, only responds to and cannot control his destiny. Jesus on the other hand held people accountable for their own actions by clearly communicating that salvation not by strict adherence to law but by faith, was attainable to all that followed the teachings of the Bible, particularly the New Testament. The Greeks, Socrates included were very much like our "anything goes" secular humanists of today......it is all about me and there is no God.

Universal background checks conducted by an intellectual, obviously gifted, all powerful, all seeing guvment? No

Minimum "entry level teenage wage" of $10.10 an hour set by an all powerful, all seeing, intellectual, so so smart Nanna State? Er...I guess, but surely you don't want to be making that loser wage for long unless of course you are so intellectual and ABOVE a soul crushing capitalist job (see Obama biography) that you game the system, working half the year in order to qualify for the low income subsidy. Backwater, if you are young it is important for you to understand, no one, especially women, wants to hang out with a snobbish prick, complaining about society while life and especially opportunity is passing them by.
