Cleveland, Hixson leading state wrestling tournament

FRANKLIN, Tenn. - Cleveland held an 18-point lead over co-favorite Wilson Central in the Class AAA division of the Tennessee state wrestling tournament.

Chattanooga area teams held three of the next four spots. Bradley Central was third, Soddy-Dais fourth and Walker Valley sixth.

In Class A/AA, Hixson led going into the semifinals with 82.5 points while Pigeon Forge was second with 61.5. Chattanooga teams held the fourth-through-eighth spots - East Ridge 42.5, Central 32, Red Bank and Signal Mountain 29 apiece and Notre Dame 28.5.

Baylor had climbed into the second spot in Division II. The Red Raiders had 53.5 points while leader Father Ryan had 77. McCallie was third with 51.
