ROME, Ga. - A federal court has dismissed a civil rights suit against a former northwest Georgia judge, saying he was entitled to judicial immunity.

A woman filed suit against Bryant Cochran saying he solicited her for sex when she sought his help getting arrest warrants in August 2012. Cochran was chief magistrate judge for Murray County.

The Daily Report writes that U.S. District Judge Harold Murphy said Cochran's conduct was "distasteful and inappropriate" but still dismissed him from the lawsuit.

The suit also claimed that Cochran engaged in a conspiracy to have the woman arrested after drugs were planted on her car.

The woman's attorney calls the ruling "very frustrating" and says he intends to appeal.

Cochran's attorney says he and his client are pleased with the decision.
