Number of those without power in Chattanooga area continues to drop

Saturday, February 15, 2014

The EPB, Volunteer Energy Cooperative and North Georgia EMC report reductions in the number of customers in the Chattanooga area without power in the wake of a winter storm that downed trees and led to widespread power outages.

The EPB said that as of 5:30 p.m. today there were about 200 homes and businesses it serves still without power. It said it has about 200 crews working to restore power to its customers by late today.

VEC said its crews are working to restore power and noted that in its most recent report about 1,595 of its customers still had no power.

The highest concentration of remaining outages are in Bradley, Hamilton, Meigs and McMinn counties, VEC said.

North Georgia EMC said there are only isolated outages in its area and crews are down to about 15 homes without power.
