Baylor School won every boys' swimming final Saturday at the high school state meet in Nashville and rolled to the championship with 341 points compared to 191 for runner-up Memphis University School. McCallie was sixth with 116 points.
Only in 1-meter diving did the Aqua Raiders not win, and they had the fourth-, fifth- and eighth-place finishers in that event, led by Ryan Smith and Alec Chennault, with McCallie divers seventh and 11th. But in their six firsts the Baylor boys set four state-meet records, and their Dan Flack was the boys' coach of the year.
Christian Selby broke a 10-year-old 100-yard freestyle record with a 44.76-second burst, and Sam McHugh broke McCallie's Sean Ryan's 500 free record from 2010 with a 4:16.76. Luke Kaliszak beat former Baylor star Martin Grodzki's 100 backstroke record with a 47.36, and McHugh, Chandler Hinson, Will Raines and Selby closed out the meet by beating a 2009 Baylor quartet's record in the 400 free relay with a 3:04.00.
Kaliszak, Hinson, Dustin Tynes and Selby earlier won the 200 free relay in 1:23.23, and Tynes won the 100 breaststroke in 55.77 with Signal Mountain's Mathias Porter fourth and Arts & Sciences' Chris Butler sixth. Baylor's Chandler Espy was fifth in the 100 back, and Raines was sixth in the 100 free.
Baylor's run of seven girls' titles in a row ended with 179 points to Harpeth Hall's 214.5, with Brentwood third at 175. GPS was fifth with 140 after Kristen Myers, Susanna LaRochelle, Anna Ward and April Forsthoffer won the 400 free relay in a school-record 3:31.31.
Baylor's Missy Karman, Maggie Stovall, Leslie Campbell and Bree Roman won the 200 free relay in 1:35.98, and Roman was second in the 100 breast. Stovall was seventh in the 100 free.
