UPDATE: Possible damaging winds moving in tonight

CHATTANOOGA - As a cold front heads towards the Tennessee Valley tonight, showers and thunderstorms will develop out ahead of it. Some of the storms could be strong to severe.

The timing of the storms looks like this:

By 11pm EST to midnight the storms will be entering our counties to the west in the Cumberland Plateau; by 1am to 3am EST the storms will be entering the western fringe of Hamilton county and the metro area; by 3am to 4am they will moving over the Blue Ridge mountains of East Tennessee, North Georgia and North Carolina. Usually as these types of storms move by in the early morning, they weaken. This may be the case tonight.
