ONEONTA, Ala. - Authorities are trying to find out who shot two pet zebras to death on a farm in the Oneonta area northeast of Birmingham.

Cindy and Blake Sherrod tell Al.com that their son found the two zebras dead with holes in and bleeding from the mouth. The couple isn't certain when the zebras were shot, but they say the animals were fine as of Thursday afternoon.

The family has had several zebras on the farm since 2000 after acquiring the original pair.

Few other details were immediately available Saturday afternoon.
