A 23-year-old woman climbing in Marion County fell 30 feet and suffered serious injuries Saturday evening, Chattanooga-Hamilton County Rescue Service Assistant Chief Buddy Lane said.
The climber was transported to Erlanger hospital and remained there Sunday, but no update was available on her condition. Lane said she suffered head and spinal injuries and hypothermia.
She was climbing the Tennessee Wall at the Prentice-Cooper State Forest and Wildlife Management Area with a group from Kennesaw, Ga., when she fell.
A team of about 20 from the Chattanooga-Hamilton County Rescue Service went to the accident scene, Lane said. They moved the woman to a Marion County ambulance, which took her to a landing zone for helicopter transport to the hospital.
