MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Child advocates in Memphis are planning a ceremony to remember 12-year-old Andrea Ruth, who authorities say suffered neglect resulting in deadly gangrene and infected bedsores.
The Memphis Child Advocacy Center says a flag-raising ceremony is scheduled for March 4 at the center.
Andrea died in November 2012. An autopsy revealed the disabled Millington girl died from sepsis from gangrene.
Her parents and a home health care aide have been charged with murder and aggravated child abuse in the girl's death.
Recently, the center held a flag raising for Aniston Walker, a 7-week-old girl who was missing for more than five weeks before her body was found Feb. 16 in a ditch in Millington. Her mother has pleaded not guilty to murder in the perpetration of aggravated child neglect or endangerment.
