Bradley Central Bearettes, Meigs County girls reach Region 3-AAA finals

Bradley Central's girls secured a sectional berth Monday and will play for the TSSAA Region 3-AAA basketball championship Wednesday thanks to a 52-33 victory over White County at Cookeville.

Cumberland County defeated McMinn County 84-54 in the other semifinal.

Brooke Copeland topped Bradley's Bearettes with 20 points. Rebecca Reuter contributed 15.

Cumberland County was led by Makenzie Iles with 29 points, and Destiny Carlton added 22. McMinn's scoring leaders were KeKe Smith with 19 points and Rachel Burke with 11.

The Meigs County girls beat Oliver Springs 41-36 in overtime in the Region 2-A semifinals at Wartburg, but Bledsoe County lost 88-55 to state power Livingston Academy in the Region 4-AA event at White County. Emileigh Swafford scored 27 points and Brandi Kilpatrick added 10 for Meigs (30-3), countering Emily Griffith's 23 for Oliver Springs.
