The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga men's basketball team is in a three-way tie for second place of the Southern Conference and one game ahead of fifth place after its 83-81 overtime win at Western Carolina on Thursday.

The Times Free Press wrote in Friday's paper that the Mocs (17-13, 11-4 SoCon) had secured either second or third place in the SoCon tournament beginning next Saturday.

There is one scenario in which the Mocs would be bumped to the fourth seed. For the UTC to fall to fourth, it would need to lose to App State; Elon would have to beat Davidson; and Wofford would have to beat UNCG.

All other scenarios would give the Mocs second or third seed, which would have them playing in the evening session.

UTC has the tie-breaker over both Elon (18-12, 11-4) and Wofford (17-11) as well as the tie-breaker over Western Carolina (17-13, 10-5).

The Times Free Press regrets this error. See Saturday's paper for more UTC basketball coverage.
