River Gallery, 400 E. Second St., will present a “Contemporary Arts & Crafts Show” as its January exhibit. Opening today, Jan. 2, the exhibit will feature seven Southern artists who represent the arts-and-crafts style in many forms: Chris Barber (wood), Clay Binkley (metalsmithing) and Mary Lynn Portera (ceramics), all of Tennessee; Laurey-Faye Long (ceramics), Lynda Metcalfe (metalsmithing) and Jay Pfeil (printmaker), all of North Carolina; and Robert Taylor (metalsmithing) of Alabama. They will be present at the opening reception, set for 6:30-8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 3. The exhibit continues through Friday, Jan. 31.
