Masked men steal donation box from Macon Walmart store

MACON, Ga. - Authorities are searching for two masked men accused of stealing a Children's Miracle Network donation box from a Walmart in central Georgia.

Sheriff's officials say two men entered store on Harrison Road in Macon shortly after 2 a.m. Thursday and picked up the charity box. An employee told deputies the men wore black ski masks and left the store in a tan or gold Ford Taurus with the license plate obscured by a piece of cloth.

A sheriff's report states that the employee could not place a value on the theft but provided deputies with photos taken from surveillance footage.

The Telegraph of Macon reports that the Salt Lake City, Utah-based Children's Miracle Network raises money for 170 children's hospitals across the U.S. and Canada.
