Weather advisories implemented in north Georgia

ATLANTA — Power crews were responding to scattered outages across the state as winds howled and temperatures plunged.

Temperatures early today dipped into the lower 20s in metro Atlanta and into the teens in parts of the north Georgia mountains. Georgia Power reported more than 400 power outages in Atlanta's southern suburbs and more than 150 outages in communities just north of Atlanta.

The National Weather Service issued winter weather and wind chill advisories for parts of northern Georgia this morning.

Forecasters say areas 1,500 feet or more above sea level could see a snow accumulation of up to 1 inch. Low temperatures overnight could lead to icy roads throughout north Georgia between Rome and Cleveland.
