Hampton Mack came off the bench to score 17 points and lead Tennessee Temple to a road win at Bob Jones University on Friday night. Mack was 6-of-9 from the floor and 5-of-9 from the line for the Crusaders, who built a 10-point lead in the first half and cruised to the win. Jake Freeze scored 15 points and Jordan Brown added 14 points in the win, and Jarrett Smith had 12 rebounds and seven points.

• Covenant College split a basketball double-header with Ferrum on Friday to open USA South conference play, with the men rallying for a 71-68 win while the women fell 78-44. Chris Boyd led the Scots (6-5, 1-0 USAS) with career-high 15 points and seven rebound, and Ben Phelps had 13 points. But the hero of the game was Daniel Garrett with 11 points in his first game of the season, including a tie-breaking 3-pointer with 1:37 remaining as the Scots came back from a 33-31 halftime deficit to get the vicory. In the women's game, Jessie Blakenship had her second double-double of the season for Covenant (3-6, 0-1), with 15 points and 10 rebounds, but Ferrum had three players in double figures and rolled to the easy win. Kiara Cooper also had double-figure rebounds with 10 boards in the loss.
