The emissions testing centers in Hamilton County will be closed Jan. 20 in observance of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day, but then they will all resume testing at their regularly scheduled hours on Jan. 21.

"Planning ahead helps keep waiting to a minimum," Prentiss Taylor, program manager for the Tennessee vehicle inspection program administered by Envirotest Systems, said. "It's a good idea to take vehicles mid-week, when testing volume is usually lighter, and to avoid testing in the final days of the month."

The regular hours of operation and testing center locations for Hamilton County are:

- 5206 Austin Road in Hixson and 720 Eastgate Loop in Chattanooga,. are open Tuesday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. They are closed Sundays and Mondays.

- 1620 Riverfront Parkway and 7460 Bonnyshire Drive in Chattanooga are open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. They are closed Saturdays and Sundays.
