The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga men's and women's track teams took part in the Ed Temple Classic on Sunday at Tennessee State in Nashville, with the Mocs men winning the distance medley relay while the UTC women took second and third in the women's DMR. UTC senior Mark Cole anchored the men's DMR team with sophomores Trevor Janssen running the 1200 meter, Geoff Nelson in the 400 and Marquis Cater handling the 800. The Mocs finished in 10 minutes, 24.66 seconds, just ahead of second place Middle Tennessee at 10:26,17. UTC sophomores Austin Ethridge, Tosin Ayutonde, DeQuantez Sandifer and Zack Darby were fouth at 11:00.48. In the women's DMR, the UTC team of Rebecca Greenwall, Gabby Cader, Kiaana Howard and Keeley Stewart finishing second at 12:52.45, just under 20 seconds behind the winning team from MTSU. The other UTC team of Jessica Philpott, Chandler Rogers, Hannah Chamblin and Jessic York finished third with a time of 13:12.2. The top individual performances for UTC were Katie Ray and Madalyn Garland, who were sixth and sevent respectively in the women's 300 meter, and Kelenka Kis' seventh-place showing in the women's 800.

Basketball

• The Lee University basketball teams each dropped to 6-3 overall and 2-1 in the Gulf South Conference on Saturday after leading at halftime at North Alabama. Hollie German scored 33 points with four 3-point baskets and Karley Miller scored 19 in the Lady Flames' 82-77 overtime loss, while Jenna Adams had 11 points and seven rebounds, Rachel Lockhart had eight assists and eight rebounds and the fifth starter, Jordan Neuharth, made four steals. Lauren Faris scored 27 points and Jennifer Towne and Nichelle Fillmore added 18 apiece for the Lady Lions (7-3, 2-2), who trailed 50-30 with 13:30 remaining in regulation time. Rashaun Claiborne and Bruce Adams had 20 and 16 points and 13 and 11 rebounds to pace the 76-69 win for the North Alabama men (8-4, 2-2), who had a 49-39 advantage in rebounds and shot 50 percent from the field after a 29 percent first half. Corey Billingsley and Valentino Thomas scored 24 and 22 points for the Flames, who shot 48 percent in the first half and 31 percent in the second, when they lost a 47-36 lead.

• In Bryan College's Appalachian Athletic Conference sweep Saturday at Montreat, Taylor Neuharth scored 22 points with five 3s in the 71-70 win for the Lady Lions (11-5, 6-1) and Robert Troino scored 31 points and Brandon Cole and Derrick Walker had 25 and 15 points and 13 and 15 rebounds as the Lions rallied from a 10-point halftime deficit and prevailed 82-79 in overtime.

• Kayla Kelly from Chattanooga had 25 points and 10 rebounds in leading Milligan to a 67-53 Appalachian Athletic Conference women's basketball win over Reinhardt on Saturday. Robyn Anthony, who like Kelly played for Arts & Sciences, added 16 points and three steals for the Lady Buffs (10-6, 6-2). Erika Woodfin from Dade County had 17 points with five 3-point baskets for Reinhardt (6-8, 3-4), and April Besley from Dalton grabbed 14 rebounds.
