The University of Tennessee confirmed Friday evening that freshman basketball guard Robert Hubbs III will undergo season-ending surgery on his troublesome left shoulder "within the next week."

The former five-star recruit, who averaged five points and 18.3 minutes in 12 games this season, has missed the past two games with a ligament injury he's had since his last year at Dyer County High School in West Tennessee. Hubbs has worn a brace on the shoulder during practices and games throughout the season.

He'll begin rehab once the surgery is complete, and there's no timetable for his return, though he should be ready to return in plenty of time for the start of next season.
