Former Sequatchie County High School coach Chad Barger has been hired as the next football coach at Coahulla Creek.

Principal Dr. Stanley Stewart confirmed the hiring of Barger Monday, ending a long search for Jared Hamlin's successor that included the brief hiring of former South Pittsburg coach Vic Grider.

Barger, who was the head coach at Clay County in Celina, Tenn., this past season, was 29-26 at Sequatchie County in five seasons from 2008 to 2012, including four winning seasons. The Bledsoe County native, who accepted the school's offer Monday, says he hopes to meet with players and the current coaching staff in the coming days.
