City planners gave a proposed $100 million retail, office and residential development a stamp of approval today and recommended that the Chattanooga City Council give final approval to the project in February.
No one spoke in opposition of Hillocks Farm at the Chattanooga Hamilton County Regional Planning Commission meeting Monday — a stark change from past meetings, which were packed with neighbors who were opposed to the 190-acre development.
"This is really a case of a developer working with the community, meeting with the community, adjusting his project and making something acceptable and something that will be quite good," commission member Don Moon said.
Developer Duane Horton with Scenic Land Co. is proposing the project, formerly called Chattanooga Village, at Highway 153 and Boy Scout Road.
