J.C. Penney Co. is closing its Northgate Mall store, according to mall owner CBL & Associates Properties Inc.
CBL anticipates the store closure to occur in the second quarter, the Chattanooga-based developer said in a statement today.
The Northgate Mall store is leased from a third party and CBL will work with the building owner to facilitate its redevelopment, the company said.
J.C. Penney will continue to pay rent until lease expiration, according to CBL.
The store is one of four Penney’s in CBL properties that the department store has announced it will close.
