Tennessee National Guard team in West Virginia for water crisis

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Tennessee National Guard's 45th Civil Support Team has deployed to West Virginia to assist with that state's water contamination crisis. The 45th deployed 15 personnel to conduct environmental sampling.

The team deployed on Sunday and will remain in place for approximately one week or until their mission is complete.

The 45th is a 22-person joint unit consisting of both Army National Guard and Air National Guard personnel.

There are 55 civil support teams throughout the nation. They were established to deploy rapidly and help determine the nature and extent of an attack or incident, provide expert technical advice and help support state and federal military personnel.
