Hamilton County commission candidate drops out

A District 8 county commission candidate has bowed out before qualifying.

Rusty Munger Jr., who picked up qualifying papers to run as a Democrat for the Hamilton County Commission seat currently held by Tim Boyd, announced today he would not seek the position, citing familial responsibilities.

In a move that crosses the partisan isle, Munger asked residents to back a Republican. Munger said in an email District 8 residents should support Curtis Adams, who has served six terms on the commission.

This show of support happened despite another Democrat, former Hamilton County School Board Member Kenny Smith, picking up papers to run in the race.

Boyd is seeking the Republican nomination over Adams.
