Suspect arrested after pursuit in stolen Cadillac in East Ridge

East Ridge police say a man led officers on a chase that began on Marlboro Avenue and ended on Karweill Lane after crashing through a fence. Police are still searching for the passenger in the vehicle. The occupant has not been identified, according to a released statement.

Police have identified the driver of a silver Cadillac as 29-year-old Kevin Cook. Cook faces charges of evading arrest, reckless endangerment, theft under $500, theft over $10,000.

Police encountered the silver Cadillac just after noon while responding to a call for suspicious activity on Lanoir Street where officers had received reports of thefts.

When police attempted to conduct a traffic stop, the vehicle headed south on Marlboro. The vehicle crossed Ringgold Road and veered down back roads before connecting to McBrien Road and then back to Ringgold Road, according to a released statement.stop

The Cadillac traveled through parking lots and yards to avoid officers, but came to a stop after crashing through a fence.

Cook and another occupant bolted from the vehicle once it came to a stop. Cook was apprehended.

When police ran plates of the vehicle they learned it was reported stolen.

Cook is expected to appear in East Ridge court Tuesday.
