Dixon, Adams to be honored at Bradley and other sports news

Bradley Central High School will induct two new members to its Hall of Fame on Tuesday between the girls' and boys' games against McMinn County. Former Lady Bears Sandra Dixon and Jody Adams will be honored for their Hall of Fame careers. Dixon played guard from 1968-71, earning all-state honors twice and was all-district and all-region three times, helping the 1969 team finish third at the state tournament and the 1970 team win the Class AAA championship. Adams, who played from 1987-89, scored 2,478 points in her three-year career, earning all-state, all-region and all-district honors all three seasons. She was also named an All-American by Converse, Street and Smith and USA Today in her senior season and later played for four years at the University of Tennessee, helping the 1991 team win the national title. Adams is currently the women's head coach at Wichita State.

Swimming

• Both Sewanee swimming and diving teams beat Birmingham-Southern in a home Southern Athletic Association meet Saturday, 171-118 for the female Tigers and 158-139 for the host men. Caty Hueske led off the opening win in the women's 200-yard medley relay and later won the 200 and 500 freestyles, and Astrid Escobar also was part of the 200 medley win and won the 100 and 200 breaststroke events. Sewanee's Emily Gay won the 1650 free and was second to Hueske in the 500, Erin Neil won the 100 butterfly and Margaret Peterson and Grace Cobbs finished second to each other in 1- and 3-meter diving. For the Sewanee men, Brian Glatt won the 200 and 500 frees, Michael Whitehead won the 200 breast, Edward Dennis won the 100 fly and Glatt, Mac McNally, Whitehead and Will Ralston won the 200 free relay by two seconds.
