Turn to the Bible and other letters to the editors

Turn to the Bible

Your paper reported that the pope is having budget troubles with his beatification process. It seems it is becoming too costly to become a saint. I have good news. One may become a saint by following the prescription of the Bible, and it won't cost you a penny. Not only may one have the saintly blessing of our Great and Merciful High Priest, Jesus Christ the Righteous, but He also gave to the Christian the hallowed book of Hebrews to show us the way to priesthood. Which saints are the most powerful, those ordained by a college or the High Priest?

Abortion hurts America

Another year has come and gone and nothing has changed. Over 55 million babies and counting destroyed since Roe vs. Wade in 1973; about 4,000 aborted every day. America has hardened her heart to the point that no argument for life matters. We have aborted more children than all of the casualties in all the wars fought by America. Astounding! How does this affect our economy? The years of a generation are said to be between 20-40 years; I take the Biblical number of 40. We have killed one to two generations since 1973. What are the effects of this holocaust? We have lost the strength, intelligence, creativity, hope, vision, and productivity of our youth. We must rely on immigration, both legal and illegal, for unskilled labor and must import skilled labor. America is no longer America. When you are few, you are taken over by many. We are committing suicide and have ceased to be the great country our forefathers created. As moral arguments no longer prevail, as Joe Friday would say, the above are "just the facts, ma'am."

Cook position countered

When David Cook supports eco-terrorism (Jan. 16) by perpetuating this: "Property destruction is not always unethical or immoral," he totally ignores that the FBI has credited eco-terrorism with $300 million in property damage just from 2003 to 2008. Protest, of course. That is your First Amendment right, but burning and destroying other people's property is always wrong. One would think someone given this prominent role in the newspaper should know this basic truth.

HELEN FUSSELL, I'm sure your handlers don't tell you to think about the trash they give you. If the 4,000/day is in the U.S., that's one in ten women of childbearing age having an abortion EVERY year. Instead of writing letters, you should be handing out condoms on a street corner. Pumping out unwanted babies for the work force sounds good until you look at the unemployment rate.

I, too, question the accuracy of Ms. Fussell's "facts." And, she gives no credit -- or rights -- to the woman who finds herself with an unwanted pregnancy. A child should be wanted and cherished by its parents; those who are not have a very hard life.
The anti-choice crowd shows no interest in constructive measures to promote the "strength, intelligence, creativity, hope, vision, and productivity" of the American youth who are actually alive today. Instead, they are rabid about controlling women's bodies, then feel free to drop babies into poverty, ignorance, abuse, and virtual oblivion after they start breathing. Plus, Ms. Fussell seems to forget that America is a nation of immigrants, except for folks from the native tribes.

Well done!

I would add that ALL real Christians are saints.

The price was paid by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Well said!

Most in our country have abandoned God, the creator of all life and morals.

They have believed in the lie and impossibility of evolution wherein they are just matter and death just ends their existence.

No reason for life except to indulge in pleasure.

You nailed Mr. Cook. He and Ms. Sohn are as Liberal as they come.

The majority of the "newspapers" and mess media are of the same mindset as these two.

They keep losing money but their solution is more Godless Liberalism.

The proof is in the Bible. Just look up references to "saints" in the Bible or Google articles by Christian commentators on the subjects of how one becomes a Christian and who is a saint.

Then you will discover for yourself the meaning of the two terms and have the answers to your ?

conservative, perhaps journalists tend to be what you describe as "liberal" because they read, observe, and seek to understand events occurring across a broad spectrum of human experience and knowledge. They listen and earn new things every day. They aren't fixated on promoting mindless myths, and they don't seek to deny reality. In your view, that's "liberal."

conservative, it's usually the ones who direct others to the bible that live by it's teachings the least.

How would you know that if you don't know who is a Christian and who is a saint?

Parroting a line from those who are ignorant of the meaning of the two terms would make you a victim of their ignorance.

Do your own research in order to gain knowledge and not be used.

So Ms. Fussell's lies would probably make her a saint. This god has very low standards of integrity.

conservy, you're the one who connected all real christians to bein a saint. I placed real in italics on purpose. All who claim to be christians consider themselves real christians, even when they behave most un-christianly. Especially the hateful and intolerant ones.

I added to June Griffin's comments that "ALL real Christians are saints ." This is their position in Christ, they are set apart to God by accepting Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.

The Catholic church can make no individual a saint Biblically speaking because it is the work of God and certainly no true Christian would pay anyone money to be designated a saint.

You used the ? in quoting me to doubt that.

If you want to fault those who act contrary to a profession of Christianity go ahead but please make the distinction.

When you say "not the ones of late" you falsely malign all Christians.

regarding your: "All who claim to be christians consider themselves real christians, even when they behave most un-christianly. Especially the hateful and intolerant ones"

So, who are those who claim to be Christians and can you give me examples of hate and intolerance by those?

January 20, 2014 at 2:25 p.m.
jjmez said...

Well, we could start with you conservy and many of your own prior rants and ragings. Then the entire list of just about everyone who's posted here claiming to be a christian then going on the spew hatred and bigotry. Admit it. Then ask for forgiveness. Otherwise, you're just a hypocrite in a long line of self-righteous hypocrites.

You guys trying to play nicey nice, victims and the injured party is suspicious.

If you can only be nice when someone comes along to tell you it's time to be nice now, what's to prevent you from reverting back to your old hateful self when another comes along and tell you it's time to go back to being mean and hateful?

You have made a false and hateful accusation.

You have provided no evidence, why? If you had any you would surely have provided such, right?

Furthermore, tell me what God hates if you can.

I see that you are taking your time posting examples of hate and bigotry that you accused me of.

Don't you understand that such false accusations by you are a form of hate?

Don't you understand that such false accusations by you are a form of hate?

Nope! Not when the accusations aren't false. Now, repent!

What brought about the change? U guys figured God might just be watching after all? Or did word come down from your righty leaders to try a nicer approach?

Well, false accusations are a form of hate jjmez.

Now you seem set on living in hate.

The con-man always acts like some kind of saint, professing to "hate the sin but love the sinner." But he is so consumed with self-righteousness that he cannot see the extent of his own hate. Many Christians like to think that they are somehow "washed" in the blood of Jesus and made perfect by his grace. But even if they were made perfect, that still would not give them the right to go around pointing out other people's sins. All he ever does is speak stridently AGAINST those whom he deems to be sinners and how they are not going to heaven but are bound for hell. He is the epitome of negativity, hate, self-righteousness, and arrogance. If he is going to heaven, I will gladly go to hell just to be rid of his ilk once and for all.
