Sen. Lamar Alexander's ex-chief of staff Ryan Loskarn found dead

Ryan Loskarn, a former top aide to Sen. Lamar Alexander, was found dead Thursday in his home in Carroll County, Md. He apparently committed suicide, according to the Carroll County Sheriff's Office.

Loskarn had been on house arrest since December after being ousted from Alexander's office when he was charged with distributing child pornography.

Deputies found Loskarn just after 12 p.m. in the basement of his family's home. His body was taken to the Maryland Medical Examiner's Office. Authorities are investigating the death.

Alexander expressed remorse for the entire situation.

“For everyone involved, this is a sad and tragic story from beginning to end,” Alexander said.
