MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The state conservation department is reminding deer hunters to use the department's Game Check program to report any deer killed during the upcoming extended season in February.

Department official Chuck Sykes says the reports will allow the department to track the success or failure of the extended season in southwest Alabama. Game check is available on the Internet (http://www.outdooralabama.com/gamecheck ), through a smartphone using the Outdoor Alabama app, or by calling 1-800-888-7690.

Deer season closes in most Alabama counties today, but it remains open in part of southwest Alabama through Feb. 10. The extended season includes all of Baldwin, Mobile, Washington and Escambia counties, most of Monroe and Conecuh counties and portions of Choctaw, Clarke, Wilcox, Butler and Covington counties.
