Birmingham leadoff batter Jared Mitchell had four hits, including two home runs, as the Barons topped Chattanooga 7-6 Wednesday night before a crowd of 1,808 at AT&T Field.
Mitchell led off the eighth inning with a homer to right that broke a 6-6 tie, a tie that he created with his leadoff homer to right in the sixth inning. The Lookouts had taken a 6-5 lead in the fifth inning when Bobby Coyle hit a two-run double to center.
Coyle went 2-for-4 with the two RBIs, while Daniel Mayora went 3-for-4.
The Lookouts dropped to 6-8 in the Southern League's second half and to 32-52 overall. They will conclude their 10-game homestand tonight at 6:15 against Birmingham, with a fireworks display scheduled to follow.
