Two accidents leave 4 dead in Chattanooga area

A pair of Tuesday evening traffic accidents left four people dead in the area.

In Hamilton County, two people died in a single-car crash on Champion Road near Booker T. Washington State Park in the Harrison area.

Just before 9 p.m., authorities said, a black 2014 Audi ran off the road in a curve and struck a tree. Identities of the victims have not been released but authorities said they both died at the scene from crash-related injuries.

"At this time it is unknown if impairment is involved, but the the investigation does suggest the vehicle appeared to be traveling at a high rate of speed," sheriff's office public information officer Janice Atkinson said in a news release.

Less than two hours before, 27-year-old Katrina White veered into oncoming traffic while driving a Ford Focus on state Highway 225 in Murray County, Ga.

The car collided with a Ford F-350 pickup truck. Both White and her passenger, 44-year-old Rodney Parker, died. They were from the Calhoun, Ga. area, according to the Georgia State Patrol.

A man driving the truck suffered minor injuries. The investigation remained active Wednesday.
