McMinn's Donna Weir publishes book on autoimmune diseases

Friday, July 4, 2014

Donna Weir of McMinn County has been diagnosed with eight different autoimmune diseases. After being asked by one of her daughters to keep a journal of her illnesses in case the daughter developed one, Weir wrote "Strange Body: Common Autoimmune Disease Questions Answered."

Currently available on Kindle Download, Nook, Smashwords, Amazon and Lulu.com, the ebook is a biography of her life and includes resources on what to do if a person is diagnosed with autoimmune disease. Through her own life and personal research, Weir also found information on common autoimmune diseases and the triggers that cause them.

Through July 15, proceeds from sales of the ebook will be donated to the American Autoimmune Related Diseases Association (AARDA).

"The goal of the book was never to make money. I just wanted to document what was happening to me in case my children started to experience autoimmune disease symptoms," Weir said in a statement.
