photo Developers plan to build a mixed use project on the 18-acres occupied by the shuttered Cumberland Corp., also known as Cannon Equipment at 950 Riverside Dr.

A developer who said in March he was planning an 17-acre mixed use development behind Erlanger off Riverside Drive is ready to move ahead with 387 proposed multi-family residential units.

Chris Senn of Augusta, Ga., is seeking a rezoning request on the site that formerly held the Cannon IMI manufacturing plant for many years. The property also is close to the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.

Senn plans to go before the Chattanooga-Hamilton County Regional Planning Commission on Monday.

The request said he plans to construct several three- and four-story buildings. He also is proposing a clubhouse and pool and provide recreation access along Citico Creek.

In March, Senn said he was interested in developing the site, which has been vacant since the plant was closed down by its British owners in July 2012.
