Volkswagen Group sales worldwide rose nearly 6 percent in the first six months of the year over 2013 to almost 5 million vehicles, the automaker reported today.
VW posted sales of 4.97 million vehicles in the period, even though it experienced a 5.3 percent drop in the United States.
The company reported that sales rose globally on the strength of China and an improving European market.
“The Group showed satisfactory development in the first six months. The challenges on the various world markets persist,” said group board member for sales Christian Klingler.
Deliveries in June grew 3.9 percent to 859,400 units, the company said.
