3 dogs saved from fire in Dallas Bay

A motorist's quick call alerted Dallas Bay volunteer firefighters to a house fire in time for them to save three dogs' lives.

The call came at 8:30 this morning about a house at 2000 Dallas Lake Road. The firefighters arrived within four minutes and found heavy smoke and fire coming from the back of the house, according to Hamilton County Emergency Services spokeswoman Amy Maxwell.

The fire was contained to a bedroom but firefighters found three dogs with no way to get out of the house.

Chief Markus Fritts said the homeowner, David Carter, had left with his family on vacation this morning. He said the family has been notified.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office.
