West Tennessee man charged in father's death

JACKSON, Tenn. - A West Tennessee man has been charged with murder in the death of his father.

Jackson police say they charged 29-year-old Clayton Nelson in the death of 57-year-old Jeffrey Nelson of Jackson. Clayton Nelson is charged with first-degree murder in perpetration of theft and also will be arraigned Wednesday on a separate felony theft charge.

Officers called to Jeffrey Nelson's home Saturday morning found a door ajar and no sign of forced entry. Police said Jeffrey Nelson was found dead inside the home and his vehicle was missing.

Police said Clayton Nelson was found in Nashville on Sunday, driving his father's vehicle.

Police said on Tuesday that Clayton Nelson is being held at the Madison County Jail. Online jail records did not indicate whether he is represented by a lawyer.
