Sky Ridge Medical Center in Cleveland, Tenn., will expand into Hamilton County next year by opening physician offices in a new building taking shape at Cambridge Square in Ooltewah.
The new Sky Ridge practice, which will include three primary-care doctors, will occupy half of a new 10,000-square-foot building being added at Cambridge Square. The practice will offer services ranging from prenatal to geriatric health care. The physicians planning to open offices in Ooltewah include Obadias Marquez, an internal medicine doctor, Karisten Djernes, a family practice physician, and Stephen Kerley, an OB/GYN physician.
"We are excited for this growth opportunity and to work with the new Cambridge Square Development team," Coleman Foss, CEO of SkyRidge Medical Center, said in a statement Tuesday night. "Many of our friends, family and medical professionals live and work in the greater Ooltewah area, so increasing our accessibility in this market was a natural fit, and a step we were very proud to take."
SkyRidge Medical Center was created nearly a decade ago from the former Bradley Memorial Hospital and Cleveland Community Hospital and operates two campuses, in addition to its physician practices.
Sky Ridge will occupy approximately 5,000 square feet in a brand new building for which ground was broken earlier this month. Barrier Properties, the Cambridge Square developer, will work with Sky Ridge officials in the design and construction of the new facility, which is slated for completion in the spring of 2015. River Street Architecture is the lead architect and BP Construction will serve as the general contractor.
"We are thrilled that Sky Ridge has decided to join Cambridge Square," said Jim Cheney, marketing director for Barrier Properties. "We view their commitment to quality health care and our development in Ooltewah as yet another positive sign of this market's unbelievable potential."
Cambridge Square has approximately 230,000 total square feet of commercial and retail space situated on a 25-acre parcel that fronts Lee Highway, just off exit 11 on I-75.
