Tennessee Vols add three besides Ryan Johnson

KNOXVILLE — Tennessee capped its second "Orange Carpet Day" of the summer with another flurry of commitments, including two for a growing 2015 class.

After Brentwood Academy offensive tackle Ryan Johnson joined the Volunteers' 2016 class with a pledge Saturday morning, Texas cornerback Darrell Miller and Florida defensive end Marques Ford committed for Tennessee's 2015 class Saturday evening by announcing their pledges on Twitter while on campus.

Bailey Phillips, a 2016 cornerback from Texas, then became the day's fourth commitment.

The 5-foot-10, 175-pound Miller, a three-star prospect out of Cedar Hill near Dallas, earned an offer from Ohio State at the Buckeyes' camp last month, after which he named a top five list of Tennessee, OSU, Michigan State, Boise State and Iowa. Wisconsin, Fresno State, Kansas State and Iowa State were among the other programs to offer him scholarships.

Ford, a 6-4, 220-pounder out of the Tampa area, is another three-star player and had an offer list that included Clemson, Miami, Ole Miss, Arkansas, Mississippi State, Virginia Tech, Wisconsin, Nebraska, North Carolina and Louisville.

Phillips, rated a three-star prospect by, joined Johnson in Tennessee's 2016 class. Clemson and UCLA were the top programs to extend early verbal offers to the 5-8, 166-pounder. He is the cousin of current Tennessee defensive tackle Dimarya Mixon, a 2014 addition who has impressed Vols' coaches since enrolling in January.

Tennessee's 2015 class is now up to 22 commitments with the additions of Miller and Ford. The Vols are ranked fifth nationally according to 247Sports and sixth by
